Philadelphia Eagles vs Minnesota Vikings

Philadelphia Eagles Storylines abound for the Philadelphia Eagles’ matchup with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, and so many of them revolve around the quarterbacks.

Can Carson Wentz, the Birds’ heavily heralded rookie gunslinger, steady his team in the face of a two-game losing streak? Or will Sam Bradford, whom the Eagles (3-2) traded to the Vikings (5-0) a week before the season began, enjoy success in his return to Philadelphia and deliver a forceful blow to the franchise that never committed to him?

There is plenty to dissect here, and we will — along with many other outlets — dive in as Sunday’s game inches closer, but a deeper look at both rosters reveals several noteworthy facets of the game that don’t have to do with the signal-callers.

So with that, here’s a glimpse at three stats you should know entering the game that aren’t attached to Bradford or Wentz.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Minnesota Vikings

It may be hard to believe, but we’re already entering Week 7 of the 2016 NFL Season. It seems as if the season just started and yet we already see some teams falling out of the playoff race and others distancing themselves from the competition.

One of those teams distancing itself from the competition are the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings were dealt a massive blow less than two weeks before the season when starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater blew out his knee at practice. Instead of panicking, Minnesota general manager Rick Spielman traded a first-round pick and a conditional fourth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for Sam Bradford.

Since arriving in Minnesota, Bradford has been playing some of the best football of his career as he’s completing 70.4 percent of his passes for 990 yards and six touchdowns threw four starts. Even more impressive is that Bradford has yet to throw an interception through 125 pass attempts and is currently second in the NFL with a 109.8 passer rating.

This week, Bradford heads back to Philadelphia where he spent one season with the Eagles and led the team to a 7-9 record. He was set to be the starting quarterback again this season until Spielman made the trade offer to Eagles general manager Howie Roseman eight days prior to the season. Philadelphia then decided to make No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz the starting quarterback for the 2016 season.

After leading the Eagles to an impressive 3-0 start, Wentz has come back down to Earth a little bit over the team’s current two-game losing streak. In Week 5 against the Lions, Carson was 25-of-32 for 238 yards with two touchdowns and an interception as the Eagles lost 24-23. This past week against the Redskins, Wentz was only 11-of-22 for 179 yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Will Sam Bradford lead his new team to a victory over his old team and keep the Minnesota Vikings undefeated? Or will the rookie Carson Wentz put an end to the Philadelphia Eagles’ losing streak and hand the Vikings their first loss?

Let’s find out in these bold predictions. [ Vikings vs Eagles ]
